The sale of defence and security equipment within the scope of major armament exportation contracts involves the provision of training services concerning the implementation, operation, maintenance and in-service support of this equipment. This added-value is DCI's “raison d'être” as France sells not only an equipment but also an operational capacity.
Therefore, DCI regularly intervenes upon request from the French Ministry of Defence and in the continuation of the armed forces' action, to support industrialists in the frame of major armament exportation contracts.
Example:
In the naval field, DCI was in charge of training Malaysian submariners.
The Ouessant submarine, chartered by DCI, performed 2,400 diving hours during
the year for their benefit. They were also given the opportunity to perform
thorough training on the Scorpene control and monitoring simulator. A
DCI-NAVFCO team conducted Scorpene submarine trials alongside and at sea. The Malaysian
submariners have benefited from the smooth transfer of naval expertise and
experience from France
and they are now capable submariners.
In Brazil, Aas DCNS's partner, DCI will be responsible for training the crew to fully operate the brazilian Scorpene. This activity will be carried out in Brazil on the Itaguai naval base, 80 kilometers south of Rio de Janeiro. It will last for two years and start in summer 2015.
